The need for cooperation in the efforts to overcome and control the
spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in every country, handling the
socioeconomic effects as a result of COVID-19 as a step to maintain
security and the citizens’ source of income, as well as expanding
opportunities for trade and labour in the region to increase global
resilience was emphasized by His Majesty through the Special ASEAN
Summit Plus Three video conference, together with Dialogue Partners
from the People’s Republic of China, Japan and the Republic of Korea.
In addition, His Majesty the Sultan also places importance on economic
relationships and cooperation in the sectors of trade, labour, industry,
agriculture and fisheries within the ASEAN region and internationally.
These relationships are important in helping to expand and improve as
well as diversify economic resources of Brunei Darussalam in order to
achieve the objectives towards an economy that is more dynamic and
sustainable in line with the vision and mission of Brunei Vision 2035.
